Despite the millions of dollars in resources at his beefy finger tips, Chris refuses use the proper name of a land he helped ravage with his amped up, pro-Bush, pro-war positions, which he trumpeted in every broadcast before and during the first years of the war. Now Chris wants to distance himself from those bleak days, but anyone with a memory or a VCR will know what he Chris really said, no matter how anti-war he may seem now.
The Assembly of Gods are pissed. Chris refuses to call Iraq, by it's proper ancient name and continually refers to Iraq as Arabia. For a guy who wants people to listen to him and take his opinions very seriously, it's seems strange that he could make such a huge mistake and even stranger there is no one around him to correct him. They don't want phone calls and they certainly don't read emails.
Mesopotamia is known as the cradle of civilization and many western traditions including some Biblical roots, have originated there. Mesopotamia's history belongs not only to Iraqis, Arabs or Kurds but to all of the inhabitants of the world. This historical value is lost every time Chris refers to this rich, ancient land as Arabia. As we all know, Arab, Muslim even Islam are words that put some Americans on guard. They worry(and rightly so) about terrorism. This type of fear, as history proves time and again, usually inspires much violence and misery. Why not concentrate on our similarities and shared beliefs? Why not acknowledge our common ground and begin from there to find a solution? Repeatedly referring to Mesopotamia as Arabia is not just a sloppy mistake and poor showmanship, it's a direct lie that misleads people every time it is uttered.
It's a shame guys like Chris start out OK, they get where they want to be, and proceed to get fat. If Chris really wanted to do a service for his countrymen, he'd consider running a ten or fifteen minute piece about the region's rich history and crucial links to our world today. Solutions to our troubles abroad will come through understanding, not fear, ignorance, bullets and bombs.
