In all the O’Reilly bashing, we forgot to mention John Gibson, who surely fantasizes about being Loofah Boy II. Not to miss out on O’Reilly’s logic-bending “defense” of why news organizations should not cover violence in Iraq, he said this on his radio show:
I decided some time ago I'm just not going to talk about this [Iraq war] anymore because I want those troops to have a chance to win even if they have to shoot some people I don't think need being shot at any given moment.Absorb that for a moment, especially you Faux defenders. (BTW, those people who don’t “need being shot at any given moment” are what are commonly referred to as INNOCENT CIVILIANS.)
According to Gibson (as well as Falafel Jerk and, presumably, the rest of Fox Noise), the best way for the US to win the war is for American citizens to know as little as possible about what is happening in Iraq, what our soldiers are sacrificing and what they are doing in our name. How does that work? It’s literally like plugging your ears, humming a song and thinking that will make everything okay. Silly me. I thought wars were won by popular support, shared sacrifice, and a constant examination of whether the sacrifice is worth it and if our goal is achievable. I didn’t realize that victory was borne of as many people as possible being complete fucking idiots.
