I agree with the sentiment but not the approach.

It is just so incredibly simple.

Democrats should treat Fox News and its correspondents as they would RNC Hecklers - period. Nothing else, but hecklers.

We all agree they are not legitimate, so why would you try to change them. Isn't that the same as asking the RNC to start running candidates that will canvass with the Democrats?

It's not a complex issue and the more that we can show some true party discipline on this matter, the better will be the pervasive view of the right wing echo chamber as nothing but obvious propaganda to all but the most un-intelligent and/or the most rabidly loyal.

When are you releasing your exposé of CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, and ABC's, left-wing biased reporting? You guys need to grow up and get in the game instead of masturbating on the sidelines and hoping the cheerleaders notice you.

I think BraveNewFilms should do what it does best in relation to Fox: document their media distortions in a film. Call it "The Fox in the Henhouse" or whatever you like. But they are a potent disinformation force, getting more potent by the day, given the jingoistic, simplistic thinking Americans love so much. So, take them on. I'll be happy to help you.

I was going to say something else, but when I saw the comment above, it occurred to me that the most potent weapon the media uses besides ridicule is indifference.

When Dennis Kucinich took Ted Koppel to task for the stupid, horse race instead of substantive questions he was asking during the 2004 Democratic primary debate, ABC pulled their reporters from his campaign the next day.

Senators and congressmen can do press conferences on serious proposals or investigations of major Bush administration crimes and most people would never know they happen because they are ignored by the media.

It is time to use this powerful weapon against the media itself. The Democrats could start with a month without Fox News boycott, and go on regular networks to explain why they are doing it, using Outfoxed clips.

At a minimum, they should draw attention to the coordination of talking points through the Fox Memo and Grover Norquist's weekly right wing media meeting.

Can you put a big screen TV on the steps of the capitol, play these attack dog clips, and ask if anyone has comparable ones of Fox going after Republicans?

This is a typical Progressive project. We love tinkering around the edges rather than attacking the source of the problem. Forget the advertisers, forget petitions, if you want to be effective, then go for the jugular -- stop all democratic politicians from appearing on Fox or associating themselves with it in anyway.

To be specific:

Elected Dems across the board should boycott Fox. They should be told to do so by the leaders of the party. This should become news. This will force an open discussion about the network and its practices, and it will become known as the joke that it is even to Joe Sixpack. "But how is this done?"

1.All Dems boycott it and its "reporters" are not allowed at Dem functions and events.

2.It becomes common knowledge that Fox is being deliberately frozen out by Dems.

3.The freezeout becomes its own news story. 60 Minutes does a story on this in which elected Dems are asked on camera to explain if Fox has been frozen out (yes). When asked why, they explain it in clear and unambiguous language (not a legitimate news organ).

4.The world sees Fox for what it is and Joe Sixpack is now too embarrassed to even admit to his coworkers and friends that he watches it because this makes him look like an idiot. Ratings slowly dwindle.

So, your target is the Democrats who keep appearing on Fox for more and more abuse. If its abuse they love, begin abusing them for appearing on Fox.

To win a lawsuit vs ex FOX reporters, FOX won the suit via "We lied in our news reports

In MD the former Gov. was able to get the Baltimore Sun's reporters press pass revoked. Why can't the Democrats simply do that? Shit I bet Denney K would do it. Is there anyway one can file a suit to say that its liable to call ones self a news outfit when they are not?

If as we all believe Fox is an arm of the Republican party, then why on earth are Democrats willing to associate themselves with Fox? No matter how much Democrats suck up to Fox, they are never going to change. They are there to serve the needs of our enemies, and no Democrat should appear on that network.

If you could get on one of the few liberal TV programs--I can think of only two, "Now" on PBS and "Countdown with Keith Olbermann"--to discuss your films, that would get Fox News' distortions into the awareness of many more viewers. AND, if you can be highlighted on a C-Span show, maybe "Road to the White House," that would be helpful, as well.
