FOX ATTACKS! The Environment
Posted on July 9th, 2007 by robertgreenwald

It's FOX Attacks time… again.

In March we all took on Fox and we beat them. Bad.  The Nevada Fox-sponsored presidential debates were cancelled when our videos showing Fox's distortions were spread far and wide.  Local bloggers worked like crazy, activists around the country wrote and called, and MoveOn used their strategic strength and smarts to bring it all home.

Now Fox is at it again.  The only surprise this time is the amount of time and energy they are putting into denying that the sun sets in the west.  Okay, well not exactly, but pretty close.  They are fighting the scientific truth of the climate crisis and are claiming it just isn't so! I'm not kidding.  Take a look at the video evidence, you won't believe what you see. (Well, maybe you will)

Seen enough?  Now it's time to get to work.  Join with us, the Sierra Club, and MoveOn to put an end to this propaganda and distortion by appealing to Fox's advertisers.  Specifically, Home Depot.  Why?  Because Home Depot says they care about the environment.  So we're giving them a chance to prove it by asking them to stop advertising on Fox until it changes its lies and distortions about the climate crisis.

Tell Home Depot to stop advertising on Fox

No responsible company claiming to support the environment should be advertising with a corporation that consistently deceives America about the climate crisis.  Rupert Murdoch says he wants to "get their house in order."  Let's help him along by applying pressure to his bank accounts.

Thank you for joining us in this next FOX ATTACKS battle.

And when's someone going to publicly have the
nerve to tell Americans the pig-think -fat ass
suburban sprawl lifestyle ---has got to go?

-You know how much oil is guzzled?

    and--

    -How many toxins are needed
    to keep just California,s
chlorine pool and lawncare scene in action?

And over the decades -all of it seeping into
    the water table.

Notice the strange tide of exotic, and fatal
    neurological conditions in your neighborhood?

    I have.

The conservative political machine is so driven by monetary profit. Even if it were proven without a shadow of a doubt that the climate would destroy all human life within 10 years, the conservatives would still pooh-pooh it. All they care about is money, Money, MONEY!!!

It truly behooves me how on other networks for the most part there is fair and balanced reporting but on FOX who they claim it is fair and balanced when it is NOT! THE HYPOCRISY! o ye and Fred stop acting like a Klan wannabe. You must be from the Ozarks. You are a nigger for being ignorant and the people you call niggers are anything but. You are the embarassement of the white race
  • fred
the only thing they learned from katrina is that niggers can't swim. Dear Lord, let a hurricane destroy fox. And if it's not to much to ask, hit that Trotta-creature by lightening!
  • Anthony Berg
    um... katrina?

    >Somethimes i hope that USA will be hit by >something really horrible as a wake up call.
  • Rocky Lore
If global warming is such a threat, then why are all these "environmentalists" STILL flying around in private jets and getting rides in limos with single-digit mileage?
  • SVL
Somethimes i hope that USA will be hit by something really horrible as a wake up call. It is beyond me to understand how a Country that stands for so much good can be influenced by so much bad. One day hopefully the people will wake up and smell the coffee until then i hope that a REAL president gets elected that can look to what USA needs and what the WORLD needs instead of what different global corporations need...
  • Its STill Cold
Oh wait Its still ) degrees in March....Yay global warming!!!! wait 0 degrees in march is warm...wtf?!?!

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that humans have an impact on the environment. "Fossil fuel burning has produced about three-quarters of the increase in CO2 from human activity over the past 20 years. Most of the rest is due to land-use change, in particular deforestation" www.grida.no

The debate now is the link between temperature increase and the environmental effects humans have made. The reason we cannot make the link is due to us not having the ability to see if this temperature increase is an historic anomaly, or if patterns show a cause-and-effect with C02 emissions. The information we have now shows that there is a 'high probability of a link'. Regardless if your a cynic or otherwise, the price we could pay for being tentative with this issue is enormous. The best solution is to deal with it immediately. The Stern report suggests it will cost 1% of GDP per year to solve this, and the costs are 3% of GDP each year due to climate change.

With the US being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol from March08, stating 'it will be too harmful to the economy', however the Stern report suggests it is more harmful to do nothing.

Im not sure Americans realise how unfavourably you are viewed around the world as a result of being the only country not to ratify the Kyoto protocol and being the worlds largest C02 emitter. Regardless of the protocol's criticism, the fact that the US is looking for excuses rather than sustainability is showing the world how corporate interests have made the US so backward.

Fox serves as just another organisation designed to create debate and confusion.

ExxonMobil states in their global warming strategy; "Victory will be achieved when Average citizens [and the media] 'understand' (recognize) uncertainties in climate science; recognition of uncertainties becomes part of the 'conventional wisdom'"
and "Those promoting the Kyoto treaty on the basis of extant science appear out of touch with reality"
    http://www.cooperativeresearch.org/entity.jsp?e...

Exxonmobil has ties to DCI group, which serves as an adviser to the Bush/Cheney campaign and represents corporate interests. The link between Fox news, News corp and republican support is not difficult to make. Fox's stance on climate change is simply to create confusion thus to satisfy corporate interests.

Dont use this information to attack republicans/democrats here. I have no idea how some of you hold the opinion that climate change doesnt exist due to what you hear of people being divided over it.
I suggest you all read the Stern report, or at least Wiki this topic before deciding what to believe.

Will, you pinko moron. You don't preach environmentalism while flying around in private jets, you don't call someone greedy if you don't donate anything yourself, and you CERTAINLY shouldn't demand the firing of Don Imus while giving a free pass to rappers who call women bitches and hos.
