Should Killing Liberals Be a Hate Crime?

The tragic killing of two people and the wounding of eight others at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville allegedly because of the church's "liberal views" brought up a discussion of hate crime laws on Fox News this week that I analyze in this video.

The four clips in my video come from the July 28, 2008, broadcasts of the Fox News programs "The Live Desk" (showing anchor Jane Skinner and criminal defense attorney Drew Findling) and "Studio B With Shepard Smith" (showing criminal defense attorneys Julia Morrow and Arthur Aidala). These programs are not available online.

Definitely a hate crime. When it's hate towards a specific set of political beliefs or a group of people, what can you possibly call it otherwise? This guy obviously had hatred towards these people based on their belief system and this cannot be tolerated in an atmosphere where our country is greatly divided and where we now identify someone's political beliefs on whether they are right-wing or left-wing. If we don't watch out, this can go completely out of control and we might see worse crimes committed in the future. This is definitely a hate crime.

I don't think killing someone is only because of politics. This is bad and its prohibited by our government. I would not want for that person to be charged with a hate crime.
